The Fox Inn
Residents discussing options for The Fox Inn in Oakley following its sale listing.
Focus
The Fox Inn in Oakley has been placed on the market by its owners, Fuller’s. Following questions from residents on social media, a community meeting was held on 2 July 2026 to share what is known about the current position and discuss the range of options available.
An asset of community value (ACV) nomination is being prepared for submission to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council. Residents may also form a steering group to explore feasibility work – including community ownership as one possible route, alongside other options or doing nothing further.
What’s next
- Submit the ACV nomination to BDBC
- Residents to decide whether to form a steering group and what feasibility work to take forward
How to get involved
Anyone interested in finding out more or getting involved in next steps can get in touch. If you have views on what The Fox could offer locally, I’d be glad to hear them.

Community meeting on the future of The Fox

The purpose was to share what is known about the current position and discuss the range of options available – not to campaign for any particular direction. Doing nothing remains one of those options.
